Method 12

What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
My favorite discovers were learning how to blog and bookmark sites. I am excited to make a page for my students with helpful information on it.

How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?

Technology is constantly changing and this course has helped me understand and keep up with some of the latest tools available.

Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?

I am not really familiar with RSS feeds. I have also seen them, but now I feel I know more about them and use them.

What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?
I loved the self-paced format.

If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you again chose to participate? YES!

Method 11

I have not used podcasts much, but I hope to use them more in the future. The Grammar Girls is a podcast I really like to use with students. The Grammar Girls get "down and dirty" with the rules of English and help to explain rules like when to use there, their and they're. They are funny and easy to listen to. I think podcasts can be used many ways in education.

Method 10

I love wikis. I created one for the our librarians to use that has web tools and other info. on it.

Method 9

I used Yahoo messenger to talk and chat. I really like this feature. When I was working on my Library Science degree, we used chat rooms to discuss the course with our professor and our colleagues. It was a great way to connect and ask questions and share input. Right now I know my school district will not allow us to use online chats for privacy issues, but in the futre I hope it is a tool we could find a way to utilize.

Method 8 Social Networking

I think social networking sites are a great way to share information and collaborate, but they can also be dangerous for our students. I believe Internet Saftey is important and should be taught to all our students. It is a tool not unlike others--used for good it has great rewards--used for bad it can be incredibly dangerous. Again we have to teach our students how to use it responsibly. My school district has recently added a Facebook Page controlled by our central administration. My school district as I am sure others will continue to explore this new tool while trying to keep our students safe as our top priority.

Method 7

I really love Delicious and tagging. I think this is an awesome tool for my patrons. I can tag articled on plagiarism, internet safety, and cool resources to keep them informed and safe. I cannot wait to make a blog page for my high school students and show them all these cool resources. Particularly interesting is the sites other libraries have bookmarked. I love to see how others are utilizing this and gain info. from other institutions.
